Americans Blame Biden For Harris’s Resounding Loss at Polls
Some supporters of the United States vice president have been expressing their frustration that Joe Biden’s late decision to run for reelection, despite concerns about his age, inflation after the pandemic, and the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border, essentially guaranteed their party’s loss of the White House as Democrats regroup in the aftermath of President-elect Donald Trump’s clear victory.
Co-director of the Center for an Independent and Sustainable Democracy at Arizona State University, Andrew Yang, who competed against Biden in the 2020 Democratic primary and supported Harris’ unsuccessful campaign said “The main responsibility for this loss falls on President Biden.” If he had resigned in January instead of July, we might be in a very different situation”
Certain prominent Democrats, including three advisors to the Harris campaign, voiced strong frustration with Biden for not acknowledging sooner in the election cycle that he was not capable of handling the challenge.

Biden, 81, halted his reelection bid in July following a poor debate showing that led to doubts about his ability to serve as a viable candidate.

Approximately 77% of Americans in August 2023 believed that Biden’s age would hinder his effectiveness for another four years.
The president made the decision to step down on July 21 following pressure from key figures within the Democratic Party, such as former President Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
He backed Harris and transferred his campaign operation to her.
