BREAKING: Tinubu scraps Niger Delta, sports ministries

President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council have officially dissolved the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development.
This decision was disclosed by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, via a tweet on Wednesday, following the FEC meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.
In his statement, Onanuga said, “President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council have scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development.”
A new Ministry of Regional Development will be established to manage all regional development commissions, such as the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission. Furthermore, the functions of the Ministry of Sports Development will be transferred to the National Sports Commission, which will now oversee all sports-related activities in Nigeria.
“The National Sports Commission will assume the responsibilities previously held by the Ministry of Sports,” Onanuga confirmed.
Additionally, the FEC has approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, consolidating them into a single entity.
