Kwara State College of Nursing Sciences, Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State has witnessed another milestone matriculation ceremony.

The event which took place at the school auditorium last Thursday was described by the Provost of the college, Alhaji Lanre Abdquadri as historic and long overdue, nothing that the matriculation of the (ND) nursing students was approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

In an address of welcome, Provost of the college, affirmed that the program had been fully accredited by both the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Alhaji Abdquadri commended the state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his commitment to the educational development of the State.

While describing the Governor as a silent achiever, humble, and visionary leader, he appreciated the Governor for making healthcare delivery accessible to all and for his understanding that infrastructure alone, cannot deliver quality healthcare without competent health personnel.

The state Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibo Kawu who was the special guest at the ceremony advised the matriculating students to be committed as lives of others will be entrusted in their care, urging them to always act with integrity, professionalism and compassion.

She charged them to embrace the core values of the profession and commit themselves to their studies in order to excel in their various academic endeavors.

Hajia Modibo applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his transformational strides in the education and health sectors.

She highlighted that his support for tertiary institution include recruitment of health care personnel and equipping of health care facilities.

The Commissioner who also used the opportunity to express gratitude to parents and guardians for their support, acknowledged the host community and traditional rulers for providing a peaceful environment for the growth of the institution.

Earlier speaking, the guest speaker of the occasion, Professor Joel Afolayan of the Department of Nursing, University of Ilorin, spoke extensively on  a lecture titled: “The Future of Nursing — Emerging Roles and Specializations”.

In her remarks, the students Coordinator, Talatu Aishat Muhammad, used the occasion to welcome the students and encouraged them to approach their academic journey with the mindset of winning a race, guided by the principles of capacity, conformity and commitment.

News Monger reports that total number of one hundred and five students who were matriculated witnessed attendants of dignitaries, including the Directors from the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Academic and Non-Academic staff of the College, parents, and well-wishers of the matriculating students.
