Kwara State Govt. Bans Street Trading On Walkways, Urges Residents, Marketers To Respect Public Space

General public in Kwara State have been officially notified of the prohibition of trading on walkways, pedestrian paths, and newly rehabilitated roads within Ilorin Metropolis.
This is contained in a statement signed by the state ministry of works and released by its assistant Press Secretary, Ahmed Kayode Abdulquadri.
According to the statement, the directive specifically applies to locations such as Emir’s Road, Zulu Gambari Road, Post Office Area, Isale Oja, and Idi Ape.
The statement notes that henceforth, anyone found trading in those areas or on any public walkway, will face the full wrath of the law, nothing that relevant task forces and security agencies have been deployed to maintain sanity.

It maintains that those roads have been upgraded to ease traffic, enhance safety, and improve the overall appearance of the metropolis.
It adds that turning them into makeshift markets defeats the efforts, endangers lives, and disrupts the free movement of people and vehicles.

The state government however urges all traders and vendors to leave the walkways and relocate to approved markets and trading zones.
