The Niger State Governor however called on the entire security apparatus of the state to clampdown on criminals, their hideouts and their cartels, and go after boys he called rascals with all manner of hairstyles.
Commercial motorcycle and tricycle movement in Niger State has been suspended by the state government between 6pm and 6am in the state capital Minna to curb the menace of thuggery and other crimes.
Governor Umar Bago, made this known during an expanded security stakeholders meeting with the traditional title holders in Minna Emirate and the heads of security agencies.
The Governor described the move as the beginning of a new era of zero tolerance for thuggery and other vices.
Governor Bago however said those on medical emergencies are exempted from the restriction which he described as temporary and aimed at addressing growing security challenges in the State Capital.
He warned Heads of district, village and ward that any house found to be harboring criminals would be demolished while buildings where hard drugs are sold would also be destroyed.
