People of Ajase-Ipo has strongly refuted allegations of bribery made in a viral
social media video created by one Mrs. Bewaji and her husband, Barrister Clement,
claiming that the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, the Commissioner for Local
Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, and Olupo of
Ajase-Ipo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ismail Yahya Alebiosu accepted a bribe of
fifteen million naira (#15,000,000) to facilitate the installation of the new Oloro of
Oro, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye.

In a statement released to S.A.M NEWS by the National Publicity Secretary of
Ajase-Ipo Descendant Union, ADU, Chief Hammed Aiyedun, the people dismiss
the video as entirely false, intended to mislead the public about the circumstances
surrounding the Oloro of Oro’s throne.

The statement challenges the claims made by Mrs. Bewaji, who alleged that the
newly appointed Oloro, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye, is not a legitimate
descendant of the Afin-Oro lineage.

It has also called upon Mrs. Bewaji and her husband to provide evidence to
substantiate their allegations, asserting that no such bribery took place.

The statement also emphasizes that the traditional Kingmakers of Oro Kingdom
were solely responsible for screening the candidates for the throne after thoroughly
evaluating eight contestants and conducting spiritual assessments across different
faiths, the Kingmakers forwarded four candidates based on their performances, with
Barrister Clement’s name notably absent from their recommendations.

The people of Ajase-Ipo clarify that it was not within the jurisdiction of Olupo, nor
that of the Deputy Governor or Commissioner, to alter the list of recommended
candidates.

“It is not the duty of the Deputy Governor or Commissioner or Himself to add
Barrister Clement’s name when the traditional Kingmakers of Oro kingdom never
submitted his name”

”It is the recommendation of the kingmakers of Oro kingdom that Olupo of Ajase-
Ipo and other Oba’s in Irepodun Local Government forwarded to Kwara State
Government. As a matter of fact, they cannot do otherwise”
He further states that the recommendation of the Kingmakers was the only list
submitted by the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo and other traditional leaders in Irepodun Local
Government to the Kwara State Government.
