TLM Continues Its Wonders, Removes PWDs From Poverty

The Leprosy Mission Nigeria, TLM, has wrapped up it’s empowerment program for the year 2024 in Kwara State by empowering 18 members of People with disabilities with full startup kits to start their various businesses for self reliant.

During the empowerment program held in Ilorin, the state capital, the state coordinator of TLM, Mr. Muyiwa Nafiu who commended the beneficiaries for their resilient spirit to be self reliant urged them to make judicious use of the kits given to them.

Mr. Nafiu noted that the organization would deem it fit to follow up their business activities in order to know which other areas they could be of help.

The State Commissioner for Social Development, Mrs. Bosede Buraimoh represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Peter Ayanwale appreciated Governor Abulrahman Abdulrasaq for creating enabling environment for People With Disabilities.

While urging the beneficiaries to make use the startup kits to empower themselves, She urged People With Disabilities to continue supporting the government in its activities in order to access more dividends of democracy.

Also speaking, Special Adviser to the governor on special needs, Mr. Soliu Baba-oloye who appreciated TLM for the gesture, described it as a step to progress.

The Chairperson, women wing of Joint National Association of People With Disabilities, JONAPWD, Kwara State, Mrs. Joy Bolarin, popularly known as Madam Jibore, expressed that the contribution of TLM to the upliftment of PWDs in the state could not be quantified in all ramifications.

Mrs. Bolarin noted that TLM has tremendously supported the course of all PWDs in the state and beyond in different advocacy programs.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Matha Raphael, Adisa Lookman and Abdulganiy Abdulazeez expressed deep appreciation for the wonderful gesture, described what TLM did is commendable and would go a long way in their lives to be an employer of labor.

S.A.M NEWS reports that each beneficiary received full startup packages of different categories such as food vendors, Barbers, Fashion designers, Knitters, among others.
